Data Set 6-II: Mixed-Model ANOVA of the Effects of Host Species and Size on Parasitoid Size Statistical Setting

چکیده
This Handout illustrates traditional mixed-model ANOVA analyses of the data from my study of host effects on parasitoid larvae (Data Set 6) when the host species is treated as a random factor. Note: Treating species as random would not be reasonable in reality, given that these two moth species are the only common hosts for this parasitoid in North Carolina, where I conducted this study. It also rarely will be appropriate to have only two levels of a random factor. Only the inferential results are shown for these mixed-model analyses; preliminary data exploration and model diagnostics would be the same as presented in the previous handout. I first present results for the balanced data set (part A of Data Set 6), then for the unbalanced data set (part B). A later handout will present linear mixed model (ML and REML) analyses; for the unbalanced data these are preferable to the ANOVA method shown here.

Data Set 6: Effects of Host Species and Size on Parasitoid Size
This handout illustrates two-factor ANOVA with both factors being fixed effects. Two versions of essentially the same data set are used: (A) a completely balanced data set, i.e. one in which there is equal replication of each treatment combination [this is a sub-set of the actual data set]; and (B) An unbalanced data set, with unequal replication of treatments but all treatment combinations pre...
متن کاملBi-Level Control Policy for Redundant Repairable Multicomponent System with Reneging, Set Up and Vacation
This paper deals with bi-level control policy and queuing analysis of a machine repair problem. The model is developed by incorporating mixed standbys (cold and warm), reneging, set up and vacation time. The repair facility consists of two heterogeneous repairmen in the system. The life and repair time of the failed units and also their set up times are assumed to be exponentially distributed. ...
متن کاملEstimating most productive scale size in DEA with real and integer value data
For better guiding a system, senior managers should have accurate information. Using Data Envelopment analysis (DEA) help managers in this objective. Thus, many investigations have been made in order to find the most productive scale size (MPSS) for the evaluating decision making units (DMUs). In this paper we consider this case where there exist subsets of input and output variables to be inte...
متن کاملUse of a mixed integer programming model to achieve an optimum size of blast block in open-pit mining with regard to size of mineable block using fuzzy logic approach
In this paper, we present an integrated model to find the optimum size of blast block that uses (i) a multi-criteria decision-making method to specify the applicable size of the mineable block; (ii) a linear programming method for the selection of the blasted areas to be excavated and in deciding the quantity of ores and wastes to be mined from each one of the selected blocks. These two methods...
متن کاملA mixed Bayesian/Frequentist approach in sample size determination problem for clinical trials
In this paper we introduce a stochastic optimization method based ona mixed Bayesian/frequentist approach to a sample size determinationproblem in a clinical trial. The data are assumed to come from a nor-mal distribution for which both the mean and the variance are unknown. In contrast to the usual Bayesian decision theoretic methodology, whichassumes a single decision maker, our method recogni...
